A Playlist and a Story

The one hit wonder. It’s a staple in pop music as we see artists come and go in the flash of an eye. They make it to the top of the iTunes charts (because who looks at Billboard nowadays) and then vanish into musical obscurity.

But the one hit wonder expands beyond music. A business professional has one decent idea that they get lucky on. It takes off, and they live off of that success for years. In my mind, it’s almost like they’re tricking people. “10 years ago, I was awesome. Therefore, I’m still awesome. Worship me.” For some reason it’s easier for the one hit wonder to continue their success and pretend they’re awesome outside of the music industry. Why? No clue. But it’s frustrating, right?

Well, today we’re going to pay respect to the artists who go more than one song deep in their musical library. Maybe they’ve had multiple hits on the charts, or maybe they have some good tracks you just haven’t discovered because it’s not on the radio. Either way, this playlist is for those who never stop trying to knock it out of the park, no matter whether you just struck out or just hit a grand slam.

Musician or not, these are for you guys.
